The Full Story

"Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me." PSALM 51:10 KJV

Renew started as a prayer. 

In 2012, Christina Carroll felt it was time. She'd spent more than two decades behind the chair, trained by one of the best stylists in Greenville. She always believed she'd open her own salon someday. She just thought it would be later. 

Then timing changed. She prayed on it. Soon after, her father-in-law mentioned a house for rent that she drove past every morning on her way to work. It was already a salon. That was her sign. 

The name came from a verse she'd carried for years, Psalm 51:10. "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me." Renew. Not a brand she dreamed up. A word she prayed. 

In 2014, Renew opened, in that little house. Six chairs and a cozy feel. Before the doors opened, the whole team gathered inside and prayed over the building. They asked the Lord to bless every person who walked through the door. That prayer is still the point. 

Eleven years on, Renew has grown into a twelve chair salon next door, with head spa treatments, scalp and hair restoration care, and a team that mentors the next generation of stylists. The chairs changed. The hearts didn't. 

Renew is more than a salon. It's a place to be renewed. You walk in carrying whatever the week handed you. You leave lighter, cared for, and more like yourself. The hair is real work, and we're good at it. But the hair was never the whole point.
